Chennai: Former Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran’s name has cropped up in the 2G spectrum scam. CBI has arrested three people in connection with the scam which includes a close aide of Maran.
Mr Maran accused the central investigating agency of framing him on the instructions of the ruling BJP and RSS.
He alleged, “I am being singled out. The CBI is fixing me to please an RSS ideologue from Tamil Nadu.” He also alleged that the CBI is forcefully extracting statements against him from the arrested.
The 2G scam investigators said that during his tenure as the Telecom Minister from 2004-2007 he used more than 300 government owned phone lines for Sun TV, owned by his brother.
In a complaint in 2013, the CBI officials had named the former minister and some officials of BSNL after it was complained that a virtual telephone exchange has been set up at Maran’s house to transfer huge amounts of data.
