Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday has prepared a list of 28 names likely to be summoned for questioning over the Narada scam.
The CBI released 13 names, on Monday, of those who were seen accepting money in the video published by Narada news portal. Apart from these 13 names, 15 others would be questioned by the central agency. As per the CBI, these accused have been termed as ‘influential’ by the CBI.
As per the CBI, the process of interrogation of the 13 people would start very soon. They might be arrested if the CBI does not get satisfied answers. The CBI might seek to take them in their custody and interrogate. The questioning session might be recorded. If needed, they might be interrogated face to face in front of Matthew Samuel.
Soon after registering FIR against 13 people, the CBI conducted a meeting at Nizam Palace today. As per sources, the discussions were about how the accused would be summoned, how they would be interrogated, would they be interrogated at Kolkata or Delhi. The CBI officers presumed and discussed at the meeting the possibility of chaos by party workers if the 13 ‘influential’ gets interrogated at Kolkata.
A special team consisting of officials from both Kolkata and New Delhi has been set up. The team is being headed by CBI’s Ranjit Kumar. On Tuesday, Partha Mukherjee, eve-teasing officer met with Ranjit Kumar. Apart from this, the CBI would also submit a report to the high court on the progress in the Narada scam.
