New Delhi: Tightening grip on Himachal Pradesh chief minister Virbhadra Singh in a corruption case, the Central Board of Investigation has moved Supreme Court against Himachal high court order staying arrest of Singh.
CBI told the court that the restraint order of the HC had virtually stalled the investigations into the case.
Appearing for CBI, additional solicitor general S S Patwalia told a bench of Chief Justice H L Dattu and Arun Mishra that the HC has asked the CBI not to arrest or interrogate Singh without prior permission of the HC.
“How does the investigation into a corruption case proceed when the accused enjoys such blanket immunity from process of law,” he asked.
The CBI requested for hearing on Friday but the bench said there was no urgency in the matter.
SC posted the matter for hearing on October 26, Monday.
