CBI to decide Mukul’s fate on Thursday


Kolkata: He is returning to the city on Thursday, but Mukul Roy has already informed CBI that he will not be able to appear before them although the extension given to him by the CBI has came to an end on Wednesday night.

According to sources, CBI will be undertaking proper steps in this regard. Few steps can be undertaken by the central investigating agency.

Firstly the TMC MP can be given a new date to appear in front of the CBI. Secondly, CBI can approach the court for an arrest warrant against Mukul Roy. Thirdly he can be questioned in Delhi. The final call regarding the steps to be taken against Roy will be decided in a meeting which is scheduled on Thursday.

There has been no response from Mukul’s end as yet. He has already informed that he will be appearing before the sleuths after the hearing of the case filed by State Government in Supreme Court against the CBI.

Roy has been summoned by the CBI in connection with the Saradha Scam. Mukul who was in Delhi at that time informed CBI officials that he will be appearing after returning to the city.

Roy held a meeting with CM Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna after returning on 14 Jan following which he changed his plan and sought fifteen more days to appear. The CBI gave him an extension of seven days which ended on Wednesday night.
