Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday conducted a series of raid across the state tightening its grip on the mushrooming Ponzi companies, in the aftermath of Saradha Scam which rocked the state.
CBI teams consisting six to seven sleuths each conducted raids in Hooghly, Howrah, South and North 24 Parganas.
The CBI on Friday conducted raids on several locations of Suraha Micro Finance (Sunmarg), a Bengal-based deposit-seeking firm in connection with the multi-crore chit fund scams running across West Bengal. The company is allegedly involved in a 2500 crore scam.
The raids came after the Supreme Court ordered probe against 44 suspected chit fund companies. The sleuths said that vital documents and information have been gathered during the raid. The agency also said that a series of raids will also be conducted in various states including Jharkhand and Gujarat.
