Kolkata: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested three top ranking officials of chit fund company MPS from Kolkata on charges of irregularities in financial transactions. The arrested have been named as Madhusudhan Chowdhury, Prabir Chandra and Shantanu Roy, officials said.
Sources said that the trio has been summoned by the CBI earlier after complaints of several irregularities in financial transaction of the company reached the bureau. Following summon the trio arrived at CBI office in CGO Complex, Salt Lake in Kolkata on Tuesday and were arrested after the investigative agency found several discrepancies during interrogation.
The agency has also carried out raids in the houses of the arrested. West Bengal has been rocked by various Chit Fund scams ranging from Saradha to Rose Valley as many influential political figures of the ruling Trinamool Congress like Madan Mitra and Kunal Ghosh were behind the bars or are facing probe for their involvement.
