CBI Arrested Senior IT Officials in Kerala


New Delhi: CBI today arrested a Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Thiruvananthapuram, and an Income Tax Officer in an alleged bribery case of Rs.10 lakh. CBI conducted searches at 9 places and recovered 10 lakh from the partner of the construction company.

A case was registered a case under charges of criminal conspiracy and provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act against Sailendra Mamidi, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Kottayam/Thiruvananthapuram, Sarat, Income Tax Officer, working in the office of CCIT, Thiruvananthapuram, M.K.

Kuruvilla, Chartered Accountant, Joy Thomas, Prorietor, Powath Jewellery, Kottayam and Mathew Alex, Managing Partner, Vellapally Brothers in the alleged bribery case, CBI said. All the accused have been arrested, they said.

The official said searches led to recovery of documents, files relating to assessments, computers, laptops, cellphones and cash of Rs. 12.5 lakh (approx).
