Deshapriya Park is going to create artificial Thai White temple in this year. The temple is developed by the artist Dipak Ghosh. But after 65 percent of work, Kolkata Police suspended this work. The organizers, however, claimed that police have asked them to reduce the size of the Thai temple that is being replicated at the spot. Police officers have denied any such claim. However, the Joint Commissioner of Kolkata Police, Supratim Sarkar, said there was no directive to suspend the work.

Debasish Kumar, the councilor of the word said that they are unable to complete the work due to high budget. After GST, sponsors are not available for this huge project. But the Pujo committee leader Nilajan Dev denied this entire allegation and said this is too funny for him. He also said that they do not lose hope till the end. Artist Dipak Ghosh said there is no compromise with art.  A meeting has been planned next month where the cops will issue some guidelines to the puja committee.

Deshapriya Park Puja Pandal Work Suspended

In 2015, 11 people were injured and scores complained of suffocation as pandal-hoppers including kids tried to stream into the Deshapriya Park ground on Panchami. The effect on traffic was disastrous. The entire south Kolkata stood still through the night. Sensing the risk, the cops shut down access to the ground for the remaining puja days.
