Captain Kohli & Rohit Sharma Meets 87 Years Old Fan In Birmingham

Birmingham: India captain Virat Kohli and vice-captain Rohit Sharma went onto meet 87-year-old Charu Lata Patel after India defeated Bangladesh by 28 runs to reach the semi-finals of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Virat Kohli also tweeted an image with Charu Lata Patel, thanking her for immense support and saluting her passion and dedication as a fan.

“Also would like to thank all our fans for all the love & support & especially Charulata Patel ji. She’s 87 and probably one of the most passionate & dedicated fans I’ve ever seen. Age is just a number, passion takes you leaps & bounds. With her blessings, on to the next one, ” Virat captioned the image.

Rohit Sharma became only the 2nd batsman after Kumar Sangakkara to hit 4 hundreds in a single World Cup and in the process became the leading run-scorer in this World Cup. Rohit fell to Soumya Sarkar on 104.

Rohit unfurled a flurry of strokes and played with a lot of freedom during his almost 2-hours-long vigil at the crease. En route his century, Rohit also hit 5 huge sixes to go along with 7 boundaries.

Rohit along with KL Rahul forged record 180-run opening stand to set up the foundation of India’s big total against Bangladesh.

KL Rahul hit 66 while Rishabh Pant smashed an enterprising 48 before Hardik Pandya starred with the ball to ensure India’s 28-run win over Bangladesh at Edgbaston.

Ms Patel was spotted by a cameraman during India’s innings. She was pictured blowing a horn and many fans took note and shared her pictures on.

She proudly admitted that this is her team and the players are like her kids. “I love this Indian team and all the players are like my kids,” she said.

For sure, her passionate cheering for Team India was one of the highlights of India’s win and she instantly became an internet sensation.
