Kolkata: Calcutta High Court Single-judge Bench on Tuesday announced May 14 can not be the final date for Panchayat Election. It could have been the proposed date for Panchayat election as there were no specific report on Election Security system.
West Bengal State Election Commission will have to produce the panchayat election security report to the division bench. Division bench will take the final decision on Panchayat election.
Single bench said the role of Election Commission can not be justified in such chaotic situation. Final date can not be announced without having a clear report on election security.
Next hearing on the case will take place on May 4. The final decision will come out on that day. After the cancellation of three-tier election, State election Commission announced one-tier election on a negotiation with West Bengal State Government.
State Police Director General has informed Election Commission that 46 thousand armed police and 12 thousands bricked police totally 58 thousands police deployment will take place in this year Panchayat Election.
