Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court today adjourned till tomorrow hearing on the CBI petition for cancellation of state Transport Minister Madan Mitra’s bail plea. According to court officials, the delay was due to not submitting of petition. The court has rescheduled the bail plea for Wednesday and directed to submit all files.
A division bench of justices Nishita Mhatre and Tapas Mukherjee said since Mitra’s lawyers have not filed their affidavit before the court, the case would come up for hearing tomorrow. Later, the Calcutta High Court had directed that Mitra would remain in house confinement under police surveillance till disposal of a CBI plea for cancellation of his bail. The cops are patrolling in front of his house in Bhawanipore.
Madan Mitra had repeated meetings with his lawyers on Monday and discussed on his further steps to be taken if his bail plea gets rejected by High Court. Whether he might get arrested immediately or he will get a chance to move to Supreme Court were his inquiries.
