Bus Mishap Kills 27 In Odisha’s Deogarh

Deogarh(Odisha): At least 27 people, including women and children, were killed after a bus carrying around 40 members from Rourkela to Bargarh fell into a 300-foot-deep gorge in Kailash valley in Odisha’s Deogarh district on Sunday evening.

The incident took place at around 7:00 p.m. when the members of Bharati Gana Natya, the opera party, were returning after a performance in Dengurjhar village under Paniposhi gram panchayat of Tileibani block.

The cause of accident is yet to be known, but officials suspect technical snag as a possible reason.

The bus skidded off Gayal Ghat and fell into the ravine.

The Deogarh Superintendent of Police said that twenty seven bodies were recovered from the accident site.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the incident and ordered to expedite rescue operation.

He directed the administration to ensure free medical treatment to the injured.
