Dhaka: Death toll rises to 63 in Bangladesh as violent protest erupted all over the country following the strike called by the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) demanding immediate resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hassina and fresh multi-party polls.
On Friday night the agitators threw bombs and torched a Dhaka bound bus killing six people and injuring another thirty. The injured have been taken to the Rangpur Medical College hospital.
In another such brutal attack on Saturday night, a truck driver and three others were killed by the agitators. The strike which started from January 6 has so claimed sixty three lives so far across Bangladesh.
On the other, Sheikh Hassina said that her government will remain in office until her term ends in 2019 and such brutal assault on democracy will be dealt with strict hand.
