Dhaka: A Bangladesh national died on the border with India in the northern district of Lalmonirhat. Police said he was killed in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).
Abu Sayem, 35, died around 4am on Thursday near Lohakuchi border zone in Aditmari Upazila, said local police Sub- Inspector (SI) Md Atik.
Quoting the victim’s relative, he said that cattle-trader Sayem along with few others crossed the border at night.
“He was injured early on Thursday after the BSF opened fire while they were entering Bangladesh. He died while being brought back by the others,” said the police officer.
The body has been sent to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
