BSF Kills Suspected Cattle Smuggler in North Bengal

Cooch Behar: A suspected poacher was killed and two others were injured as BSF jawans oped fire on them near India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district on Friday. The injured have been rushed to Jalpaiguri hospital in critical condition.

As per reports, a group of four to five men an were roaming suspiciously near the border under Mekhliganj police station drawing BSF’s suspicion. When challenged the men try to fled the area forcing the jawans to open fire.

India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal is too porous and has literally infested with cattle smugglers. The lucrative smuggling business runs into thousands of crores of rupees. The BSF has recently been ordered to keep strict vigil and foil the smuggling.
