Berhampore: A Madhyamik student was allegedly beaten to death by BSF Jawans at Murshidabad’s Raghunathganj. According to locals, Sharif Sheikh (17) was lynched due to suspicions of being a cow smuggler.
Sharif on Tuesday late night, went outside his house for toilet after completing his studies. After going a bit further, the BSF Jawans noted him. The Jawans started chasing him for being a cow smuggler. A scared Sharif started running, scaring for his life. Unfortunately he was caught.
After this, the Jawans started allegedly beatinh him. He was rushed to the Jangipur sub-divisional hospital in seriously injured condition. However, within some time, he died. He was a class 10 student of Tullapur High School.
The locals are surprised over such work by the Jawans. As per the deceased’s family, the BSF camp is located at an area full of people. They are a bit away from the Indo-Bangladesh International border. Hence, they have alleged that torture by the BSF goes on. The family has demanded for right investigation and proper punishment of the culprits.
