Imphal: An earthquake of magnitude 4.4 struck near Manipur-Myanmar border at 4:37 PM on Sunday. No casualties have been reported so far. This is the second earthquake this week.
Recently, an earthquake measuring 4.0-magnitude on the Richter Scale struck India-Myanmar border region in Manipur on Thursday. The earthquake occurred around 9:00 am on June 21. However, no loss of life or priority was reported.
It is to be noted that an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 on the Richter scale hit Nicobar Islands Region during wee hours on June 22. The medium intensity jolt was felt at 1.59 AM. No reports of casualties, injuries or damage to property were received.
The epicentre of the quake was located at latitude 7.4 degree north and longitude 94.6 degree east, according to India Meteorological Department. Nicobar Island is a part of union territory Andaman and Nicobar. Earlier on February 12, an earthquake of 5.6 magnitude hit the Andaman Islands. As per the meteorological department, the earthquake occurred at around 8: 09 AM. No casualties or damage were reported.
