Howrah: Train service disrupted after a overhead wires snapped in the Lilua-Belur main line on Tuesday morning. This affected the movement of the train on the up and down line in Howrah.Trains halted in many stations in the Howrah main section.
The local sources said, when the Howrah-Tarakeswar local was entering Lilua station from Belur. At that time, a sudden sparkling added with huge blast was noticed in the overhead wires. The driver of the train pulled down the pictograph of the train. The overhead wire blast first took place at the female compartment. This spread panic in the train compartment among the passengers. Most of the passengers jumped off the train. Although no casualties are reported.
Howrah-Tarekeshwaragami train was stranded for more than two hours. Beside this, several trains were halted in the Howrah main section for long hours. Many local trains stuck at different stations.This caused the commuters to suffer.
Railway official Mohammed Kalim Ullah said first the overhead wire snapped in the line number three of Howrah main line section.Another overhead wire snapped in the line number two of the same section.As a result the train services in the mainline of Howrah section was affected and paralyzed for several hours.Although train service in the line number two is resumed, train services in the line number three will be resumed soon as work is in progress.
