Boxing Champ Charged With Terrorism Offences

London: A spokesman for the Met Police said: “A 36-year-old man from south-east London is to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 January charged with a terrorism offence.

“Anthony Small, 36, was charged with encouraging acts of terrorism under section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006 in connection with a video posted on social media in September 2016. “It follows an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.”

A spokesman for the Met Police said: “A 36-year-old man from south-east London is to appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 24 January charged with a terrorism offence.

Small turned professional aged 23 and was managed by famous British boxing promoter Frank Warren. His fighting style was considered unorthodox as he kept his hands low and used body movement to avoid punches. In 2016, he appeared in the BBC Two documentary Muslims Like Us.
