Bangaon: When the sun dawned in the morning and Bangaon Lok Sabha Polls commenced, Binapani Devi alias ‘Boro Maa’, the head of the Matua community was no where to be found in the Thakur Mansion. Her son and BJP leader Manjul Krishna Thakur alleged that TMC supporters lead by her sister-in-law had shifted her somewhere ahead of the polls.

Ultimately, she was found casting her vote in the nearby booth. When asked about her whereabouts, she said that she had gone to take a stroll in the early hours of the morning.

On the other, Binapani devi’s grandson and BJP candidate Subrata Thakur sought the blessings of his grandmother before stepping out on the day of elections.
