Bookfair to get cyber exposure,commences from Jan 27


Kolkata: The 39th Kolkata Book Fair is going to start from Tuesday at the Milan Mela Complex. The fair will be inaugurated in the presence of British journalist Anita Anand. The occasion will be witnessed by the CM of the state, Mamata Banerjee. She is also the Chief Guest of the programme.

However, the gates for the common people will be opened from Wednesday onwards. The fair will continue till Feb 8. To facilitate transportation and mobility, 3 temporary bus stops have been set up near the bookfair. Bus service to all corners of the city would be available from there. The service would be available from 2pm to 10pm.

The theme country of this year’s bookfair is The Great Britain. The theme pavilion would be seen throwing light on  ‘Knowledge is great’. Besides Britain, the book-lovers of Kolkata would be able to lay their hands on the literature of Bangladesh, Ecuador, America, Japan and France.

The bookfair authorities have even developed an app which can be easily downloaded in the smart phones. The initiative is to give this year’s bookfair a cyber exposure.

The entrance of the bookfair has been set up in accordance with a museum of Great Britain. The other two gates have been decorated remembering Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse. The children’s pavilion at the bookfair has also geared up to bring in smiles to the faces of the kids. The presence of Charlie Chaplin is surely to give happy memories to everyone who visits this year’s bookfair.
