Update: The Railway officials have claimed the bomb scare as a result of a mock drill conducted by them. A mock drill makes it clear that no real bomb was present at the site. It was just to ensure the awareness over this issue among passengers. As per sources, this mock drill was conducted ahead of the upcoming Durga Puja when a huge number of commuters would be using the railway services.
Kolkata: Panic spread at platform number 20 in Howrah Station on Tuesday over a suspected tiffin box.
Locals and passengers noticed an unclaimed tiffin box lying at the platform in Howrah Station which triggered panic. They immediately informed the railway authorities. The bomb diffusal squad of the RPF has already rushed to the spot. Primary inspections reveal that the unclaimed tiffin box has wires attached to it from within.
As per sources, train services in the platform number 18, 19, 20 has been suspended at the moment completely.
