Malda: Four people were left dead and six others injured after a crude bomb went off at West Bengal’s Malda district on Sunday night.
According to sources, the deceased and the injured were making crude bombs at a house in Malda district’s Baishnabnagar when accidentally one such bomb went off. Last night, when the high intensity bomb exploded, it created a sound and shook the entire area.
Immediately, RAF and district police officials reached the spot and shifted all to Malda Medical College and Hospital. While four were declared brought dead, six others are serious and are undergoing treatment at the hospital. The four dead are a local panchayat member Kalam Sekh, Simu Sekh, Israel Sekh and Sukhu Sekh are dead.
A huge chaos has been created in the area. High officials of the state police have reached the spot and have started their investigation. The police are suspecting that the bomb went off while they were making it. Malda’s Superintendent of police Oyakher Reja said over the phone that high officials have reached the spot and assured of an unbiased and thorough investigation.
Locals alleged that the house was being used by the inhabitants as a factory to manufacture bombs. Meanwhile, police officials are posted at the blast site and they have recovered explosives and other bomb making materials. Police have sealed the house for further examination.
On the other hand, local Congress party has claimed that the TMC activists were making bombs to unleash terror in the area. Unfortunately, one of such crude bombs went off. They even added that none from the Congress party is involved in the incident.
