N'Djamena: Chad President Idriss Deby Itno has claimed that Aboubakar Shekau has ceased to be the chief of Jihadist group Boko Haram. At a press conference on 55th Independence day of Chad, President Deby said that the Nigerian extremist group has a new leader. He said that Shekau has been replaced by Mahamat Daoud who is ready for talks with the Nigerian Government.

There are speculations that Shekau has died after the leader of the group didn’t appear in the Boko Haram videos of late. Deby said, “Boko Haram is decapitated. There are little groups are scattered throughout east Nigeria, on the border with Cameroon. It is within our power to definitively overcome Boko Haram.”

He even claimed that war with Boko Haram won’t last long and will be over by the year end. Earlier, in March, President Deby had called on Shekau to surrender or be killed.
