St Petersburg: A blast ripped through a supermarket in Russia’s St Petersburg on Wednesday evening, injuring at least 13 people according to the latest data. The explosion went off inside a locker of a grocery store at Kondratyevsky Avenue.
Investigators informed the blast was cause by a metal bomb kept in the supermarket’s grocery store. No one was reported dead in the incident. But five of the injured are said to be in grave condition.
Russian media reports said the bomb had been hidden in a locker where shoppers leave their belongings in a branch of the Perekrestok supermarket chain. The attack is seen as a potential “mass homicide attempt”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had termed the blast as ‘terrorist attack’ during his address to military officers in Moscow and called for a full investigation.
