Police-BJP Skirmish, Roopa Ganguly Arrested


Asansol: The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) civil disobedience movement in West Bengal turned violent on Wednesday as skirmishes broke out between party workers and Police across the state including Asansol, Baruipur and Salt Lake.

Many leaders including Roopa Ganguly have been arrested and many workers suffered injuries as cops’ lathicharged on the protesters. One protester reportedly suffered grievous injuries and shifted to Kolkata for treatment.

BJP has condemned the attack and alleged that women supporters have been manhandled by the police and no lady constable was present on the spot.
