New Delhi: Union Finance Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Arun Jaitley on Wednesday announced that his party will mark November 08, 2017 as ‘anti-black money day’ across the nation.
Jaitley said all ministers, BJP leaders and party workers will take part in the celebrations.
The BJP decision came in the wake of the Opposition deciding to mark November 08, 2017 as a black day in protest against demonetisation.
It may be recalled that on November 08 last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in a televised national address announced a ban on high currency Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, in a bid to fight the menace of black money.
Hitting out at the Congress, Jaitley said the party had “adequate opportunity to be in power, and I cant recollect a single significant step that they ever took against black money”.
“The Congress had reconciled to the idea of India living with a shadow economy,” he added.
