Arambagh: A group of TMC miscreants allegedly attacked BJP leader Joy Banerjee’s car while he was returning after attending a programme. The incident occurred on Sunday at Hoogly’s Krishnapur area.

The BJP had a programme at Chanditala in Hoogly. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh, national secretary Rahul Sinha and member of National Executive Committee Joy Banerjee were present.

While they were returning, the attack was made. Dilip Ghosh escaped any injury due to the presence of his body guards. Soon after giving his speech at the programme, Rahul Sinha left long time ago. Joy was left and hence had to face the attack.

Joy Banerjee said that a huge crowd of people had gathered at the BJP’s programme. Several leaders from other parties joined BJP on this day and hence the TMC goons attacked them. According to Banerjee, under the leadership of local TMC leader Sheikh Abdulla, some people attacked along with bamboo and sticks. The car’s mirror was broken too in the attack.

However, the local TMC leadership has rejected all such allegations. Joy Banerjee said, “I was attacked. The car was vandalised. Everyone has seen it. I have informed the central home ministry in Delhi about the incident.”

No written complaint has been filed by the BJP party with the police yet. Joy Banerjee has been admitted to the hospital for his injuries. The BJP has alleged that Joy Banerjee sustained major injuries in his head.

BJP general secretary Sayantan Basu said that on Monday, the BJP workers will protest  state-wide.
