Barrackpore: A BJP leader was attacked for organizing Rakhi Bandhan festival in Bijpur area of North 24 Paraganas on Sunday. Such allegation has come from the Saffron brigade against the ruling party.
The incident took place on the day of Rakhi Purnima. The BJP leader Nitai Acharya was seriously injured and taken to the primary medical center in Barrackpore. Nitai Acharya is a BJP leader of Naihati rural area. In the last panchayat elections, he was the candidate of Jetia Booth No. 72 of Panchayat.Although, he couldn’t win the election.
On Sunday morning, with Nitai’s initiation the BJP has organized the Rakhi Bandhan festival in Halishahar area. Due to this Nitai was allegedly attacked by a group of local Trinamool Congress supporters.The local BJP supporters have alleged that on the auspicious festival of Rakshya Bnadhan, Nitai Acharya was attacked some TMC sheltered goons. The BJP leader was taken to the TMC party office in their locality and was thrashed. BJP has alleged that the attack was carried out for organizing Rakhi Bandhan festival in the area.
District BJP President of Barrackpore Ahindranath Basu was also present at the event. Although he was not present at the spot during the attack on Nitai. In his words, “I was present till they moved to Halishahar station. Then they went towards the market. And I left for Jagaddal.” Basu has also added that, possibly the attack was carried out after that. He further said, “Not only Nitai Acharya, our two youth leaders Vishnu and Alok was also taken away by the TMC the miscreants. Though Vishnu and Alok were released but they have mercilessly thrashed Nitai.”
BJP’s district president Ahindranath Basu has claimed that the local Trinamool Congress leader Kala is behind the attack.
