Kolkata: The fight for winning the apex seat is no more a bonhomie struggle among the state political parties. The city witnessed the thrashing of left party workers during their march towards Nabanna, followed by the suddenly turned violence at the BJP’s ‘Lalbazaar Avijan’ leading to the arrest of several top leaders. This political game has however, taken a step further with the opposition MLA and ruling party workers joining the saffron party.
During the Lalbazar rally on Thursday top BJP leaders like Kailash Vijayvargiya, Dilip Ghosh, Locket Chatterjee, Roopa Ganguly were arrested. Soon after they were out on bail, in a press conference they announced the joining of Mafuza Khatun, CPM MLA of South Dinajpur’s Kumaganj, to their party. State BJP president, Dilip Ghosh said that gradually, the BJP was increasing in power which will eventually eradicate the Left Front party away.
On the other hand, more than 50 TMC party workers joined the BJP at Kashipur under the leadership of the BJP leader Paresh Jadav who is also an eminent lawyer. After this he said that people are getting inspiration from PM Modi and joining the BJP. He also pointed out that more people will be joining the BJP in future.
