Bankura & Hoogly: A rally was organised by the BJP in Bankura’s Barjora and the road at Chowrasta area was blocked as a protest to the attack on state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh. As a result of the blockade at the Bankura-Durgapur state highway, transport services were disrupted.
Several BJP leaders and workers were present in the road block which led to the stranding of several buses and lorries. School students, common people also faced problems as a result. With the help of the administration, the blockade was called off.
A group of TMC miscreants allegedly attacked BJP leader Joy Banerjee’s car while he was returning after attending a programme. The incident occurred on Sunday at Hoogly’s Krishnapur area.
The BJP had a programme at Chanditala in Hoogly. State BJP president Dilip Ghosh, national secretary Rahul Sinha and member of National Executive Committee Joy Banerjee were present.
While they were returning, the attack was made. Dilip Ghosh escaped any injury due to the presence of his body guards. Soon after giving his speech at the programme, Rahul Sinha left long time ago. Joy was left and hence had to face the attack.
BJP leader Sujit Agasthi said, “We are protesting against the way the TMC goons attacked our party president Dilip Ghosh and national executive committee member Joy Banerjee. It is not tolerable the way the ruling party is trying to suppress the voice of the common people and the opposition parties.” He said that to maintain the democracy of the country, the BJP party will carry on with protests.
On the other hand, Chinsurah’s Sarat Sarani crossing was blocked from 11-11:30 in the morning under the leadership of Hoogly district’s BJP’s OBC Morcha’s general secretary Suresh Shaw. The traffic was completely disrupted. Later on, normalcy was resumed.
