Malda: A Trinamool Congress worker was injured allegedly by BJP goons while he was
returning home from his shop.
The incident occured at Gangadhartola area of north Chandipur under the Bhutni
police station in Malda.
According to sources, Sudam Mandal, the TMC worker, is a grocery-shop businessman.
He accused BJP goons of stopping his way on Saturday night while he was returning
home. He accused Manoj Mondal and Parmeswar Mondal of trying to stop him by hurling
stones at him and also by hitting him with bamboo sticks.
The goons, understanding the gravity of the situation, left an injured Sudam on the
road, and fled.
Sudam said that in the previous Panchayat election, BJP worker Manoj Mondal forced
him to leave TMC and join the saffron party. He also asked to work for the BJP
Manoj started attacking Sudam in different ways for not joining the saffron party.
Sudam said that he has been working for TMC since several days. BJP goons have been
threatening him for several days.
Sudam is presently undergoing treatment for his injuries at the Malda Medical
College and Hospital.
A complaint has been lodged against the BJP workers at the police station. Based on
the complaint, the police have started an investigation. The two accused still
remains at large.
