Mumbai: BJP has demanded the cancellation of the bail of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan for defending death row convict Yakub Menon who is scheduled to be hanged in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. Salman has been granted bail in the 2002 hit-and-run case.
Mumbai BJP President Aswhish Shelar on Sunday met Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao and submitted a letter requesting cancellation of bail granted to Salman by the Bombay High Court.
Shelhar said, “I submitted a letter to the Governor requesting cancellation of bail of convicted Salman Khan for supporting a convict.”
He tweeted, “Very disappointing to see Salman Khan ask for release of Yakub Memon. His (Salman’s) bail should be cancelled on the basis of the support for crime.”
The Yuva Morcha of the BJP is expected to stage protest outside Salman’s residence in Bandra on Sunday.
The security in front of Salman’s home has already been tightened following his tweets in support of Yakub Memon.
