Jakarta: In a bizarre incident, a 12-year-old boy was the only survivor in a plane
crash in Indonesia, which left eight other passengers dead.
Jumaidi was the only passenger found alive. He was conscious when he was rushed to
the Oksibil hospital. No other details were revealed by the army.
The Pilatus PC-6 Porter single-engine plane was reported missing on Saturday during a 45-minute flight from Tanah Merah in Boven Digul district to Oksibil. According to the local army chief, the plane crashed on Sunday near Oksibil airport.
The plane with two pilots and seven passengers lost contact after communicating with the control tower in Oksibil just before it was due to land Saturday afternoon, said local police chief Lt. Col. Michael Mumbunan.
The cause of the crash was not clear.
