Bimal Gurung, Roshan Giri Resign From GTA


Darjeeling: GJM Chief Bimal Gurung resigned from the post of chief executive of Gorkhaland Territorial Administration (GTA) on Friday.Secretary Roshan Giri also resigned from executive committee of GTA.

43 other GJM members  also followed suit.

Indefinite strike to continue,all-party meeting postponed to 29 June, will burn GTA agreement on 27 June said GJM chief Bimal Gurung. He also demanded CBI inquiry into police firing on GJM supporters.

On Thursday, Bimal Gurung and wife Asha Gurung were booked under charges of murder and conspiracy over the killing of 3 GJM activists in Singmari last week.

With supplies running out and the vacations to start shortly, the boarding schools of Darjeeling are facing a harrowing time due to the shutdown. GJM offered a 12 hour window On Wednesday to vacate campuses.

The indefinite shutdown has also hit hard the famed tea industry.
