Bimal Gurung & Co filed for anticipatory bail


Kolkata: Bimal Gurung along with ten other Morcha leaders on Monday filed a plea in Calcutta High Court seeking anticipatory bail. An arrest warrant has been issued against Bimal Gurung and 23 other Morcha leaders on Saturday, after CBI filed chargesheet accusing them in Madan Tamang murder case.

CBI has named 23 people in its chargesheet including Bimal Gurung, his wife Asha Gurung, Harka Bahadur Chetry in Madan Tamang murder case. On the other hand posters popped up in GTA area threatening fierce retribution if Gurung is arrested.

Madan Tamang was hacked to death at Upper Clubside in the heart of Darjeeling town on May 21, 2010 when he was overseeing preparations for a public meeting. On May 29 this year, the CBI charged the 23 leaders with murder, criminal conspiracy and rioting with deadly weapons.
