Patna: A cautious Grand Alliance began celebrations mid-morning, as polls showed it was leading in the battle for Bihar. Nitish Kumar thanks people of Bihar for their “overwhelming support” to the grand alliance.
The Grand Alliance comprising JD(U), RJD and Congress is leading in the state, even though very early trends showed the BJP was ahead. Celebrations have begin at the RJD office in Patna.
The BJP perhaps prematurely began celebrations much earlier, when opening counting trends suggested the BJP+ alliance was in the lead.
It even ordered 100 kg of laddoos and firecrackers after initial trends showed that the party was ahead of its rivals.
On that occasion West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee says, “Congratulations Nitish Kumarji, Laluji and your full team. And all my Bihar brothers and sisters. Victory of tolerance, defeat of intolerance.”
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut extended his greetings to Nitish Kumar in wake of his alliance’s imminent victory. “Nitish Kumar has come through as a hero these elections.
