Kolkata: Many top Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders are keen to join the Bharatiya Janata Party but are not being able to do so as they don’t find the incumbent state BJP leadership “capable” enough to “protect” them in the current political situation in West Bengal, according to sources.
Bolpur MP Anupam Hajra will join BJP If everything is right on Thursday or Friday. But Trinamool MP is not ready to say anything about this issue right now. However, after the joining of Soumitra Khan in the BJP, TMC expelled Anupam Hazra from the party. Now the question raised that is this reason that Anupam Hazra will join BJP?
However, after joining Soumitra’s BJP, Anupam posted a controversial post in social media. Where Anupam wrote that I am politically handicapped but have faith in Didi. But you quite the party.
He was immediately expelled from the party. After that the post was deleted by Anupam. As a result, the question arises that is Anupam really joining the BJP? The speculation ended soon after.
BJP sources said, he will also join the BJP, If everything is right, he can join the BJP tomorrow or Friday. The sources said that his initial interaction with BJP has already been successful.
Two Lok Sabha MPs of the ruling TMC – Soumitra Khan from Bishnupur in Bankura district and Dr Anupam Hazra from Bolpur in Birbhum district – have been expelled from the party on a single day and while Khan has joined BJP, Hazra is expected to follow suit soon.
Khan was inducted to the party in New Delhi after his discussion with BJP national president Amit Shah. He is the first Lok Sabha MP to defect from TMC to BJP. He joined BJP formally in the presence of Union petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, party national general secretary Bhupender Yadav, party leaders from Bengal Mukul Roy and Rahul Sinha.
Roy said that at least five more MPs from TMC were ready to switch to BJP and would soon do so. Both Khan and Hazra refuted charges. Khan said that there is no specific charges against him because he never indulged in corrupt practices and Hazra brushed aside the allegations saying “I have neither been named in Saradha or Narada scams and neither have I raised money taking Mamata’s name or using my position. My only offence was my posts which the party found offensive and last year itself I had got rid of my facebook profile.”
