Adelaide: Team India received a major setback early on Friday morning ahead of the first Test against Australia as opener Prithvi Shaw ruled out of 1st test against Australia and suffered an ankle injury in the tour match against Cricket Australia XI.
Shaw injured his ankle while attempting a catch at the boundary during the third day of India’s warm-up match against Cricket Australia XI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. He was carried off the field and taken to hospital for scans.
Shaw was attempting to take a catch of opener Max Bryant at the mid-wicket fence. The youngster, who made a terrific start to his international career with a century on Test debut against Windies at home, scored a fluent 66 off 69 balls in the first innings of the tour match. He was expected to start against Australia in the first Test. The first Test starts on 6 December at Adelaide.
