BGB fires at Kolkata bound Maitree Express

Dhaka: The Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) fired at Kolkata-Dhaka Maitree Express. The incident occurred at Ishwarwadi Station where the Kolkata bound train had arrived. After its arrival the station, the BGB officials started searching the train. Since the train was stopped at the station for a long time, the passengers staged demostrations. When the situation went out of control, the BGB officials fired inside the train to bring the situation under control.

The BGB has claimed that some passengers of the train were involved in smuggling of drugs to Kolkata so the search operation was conducted in the train for so long. Regarding the allegations of firing they said that since the situation went out of control, the BGB officials fired few rounds in the air. The BGD has rubbished the allegations that shot were fired at the train.
