Bengal Will Celebrate One Year Of Rosogolla GI Tag


Kolkata: On November 14 last year, West Bengal had received the GI tag for rosogolla, ending a fierce debate that lasted for two and a half years.

The state government has decided to hold a sweetmeat festival on November 14 to celebrate the first year of the Geographical Indication (GI) tag for rosogolla. The West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) will organise the event at Mishti Hub in Eco Park.

‘Rosagolla Day’ will be held here on November 14. The program will run from 2pm to 5pm in cooperation with the Rosogolla Association. On the day of the celebration, members of Mistihub will open the stalls with different types of rosogolla. This time, a fancy cake made from rosogolla is being presented by Mithihub.

Haripada Bhaumik, Tarun Goswami and others will be present on the occasion. They will discuss the history of the rosogolla. Besides, there will be various programs from 10 November. Children’s Day will be observed in November 10 at 2 pm. Here the children will be playing various events. At the same time, there will be various types of delicious food stalls. The film festival will be held from 10 to 17 November.
