Bengal Polls: TMC worker shot dead at Katwa


Murshidabad: A TMC worker was shot dead in front of a booth in Katwa municipality Ward no 14 during the ongoing civic bodies polls in the state. The deceased was identified as Indrajit Singh.The TMC is accusing the Congress of the murder of its member. It’s a strong hold of Congress and presently this municipality is managed by the Congress. The body was sent to Katwa subdivisional hospital for a post mortem.

Violence was also reported in Bankura Sonamukhi municipality ward. A TMC supporter was alleged seen with arms. Even a bomb was recovered from the area.The polling for the 91 civic bodies in West Bengal began at 7 am on Saturday amid tight security. “A total of 35 companies of central forces, besides state forces have been deployed to ensure peaceful polling,” State Election Commissioner S R Upadhyay said.
