Bengal Labour Murdered In Gujrat

Raiganj: A North Dinajpur labour who was working on a contractual basis in Gujarat has been found dead at his accommodation, said his family. The kin of Ritu Rishi, 48, said he had been murdered and they filed a complaint at Raiganj police station on Sunday.

He was found dead at Bhulka on March 22 and the body arrived at his home on Sunday.
Sources said Rishi, a resident of Boroi village under Raiganj block, had gone to Gujarat along with other villagers for contract work.

“We had initially heard that he had hanged himself. But later, we learnt that Ritu’s body was found lying on the floor. We suspect he has been murdered. We find no reason for him to commit suicide,” said one of his relatives.

After Ritu’s body arrived, a section of villagers and his family demanded that another post-mortem be conducted to ascertain the cause of the death. However, the police didn’t pay heed to the demand. “We have received a complaint and a probe will be carried out,” said a police officer.
