Kolkata: The State Government is going to open another avenue for handicraft artisans in Bengal – Sabala Mall. This was recently announced by the Self Help Group and Self Employment Minister at the Sabala Mela being held at Central Park in Salt Lake.
The malls will be set up in the district capitals of Bengal as well as in Kolkata. The construction of the five-storey mall in Kolkata has already started.
The congregation of handicraft-makers from across Bengal at one place will make these traditional crafts of Bengal easily available to a large population covering Kolkata and its surroundings. A big attraction for the makers of handicrafts will be the fact that they will be given space here free of cost.
The minister also said during his speech that the government will make arrangements for free training of handicraft artisans and will provide more help in setting up and selling their products.
