Bengal Bypoll To Be Held Under Tight Security


Howrah: The vote preparation in Howrah gearing up under tight security. Lok Sabha Bypoll in Uluberia Constituency will take place on 30th January, Monday. Each booth has been marked as sensitive.

In a press conference on Thursday, Superintendent of Police Gourab Sharma told, 30 companies of central forces have been deployed for the bypoll and 6500 state police are pressed into service. 14,349 lt. alchohol, 2.78 lac rupees, 2 cars, 34 explosives have been seized in a raid by state police. Four people have been arrested on the issue.

Chaitali Chakraborty, District Magistrate of Howrah said, total number of polling stations are 1818. 17 are extra polling station among them. Urban polling stations are 198 and rural polling stations are 1620. Total number of voters in Uluberia Constituency are 15,77,396. Male voters are 8,15,979 and female voters are 7,61,383. In this election 47,907 people are participating for the first time. Uluberia Loksabha constituency will held the election with VVPAT (Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail) for the first time.
