Kolkata: The BCCI on Monday gave a huge relief to Suresh Raina by giving him a clean chit after former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi accused India all-rounders Raina and Ravindra Jadeja, along with West Indian Dwayne Bravo, of involvement in betting.
Board secretary Anurag Thakur and chief selector Sandeep Patil addressed the media after announcing the India squad for Zimababwe tour, where as many as eight players have been rested, including MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli.
The duo also said that the ICC inquiry into Modi’s mail to the apex body in 2013 will reveal the truth.
“Lalit Modi had written an e-mail to ICC. The ICC had informed BCCI regarding this e-mail,” Thakur answered in response to a question on the issue.
“These three are international players, and the ICC has to conduct an inquiry. So far the ICC has not come out with a report. There is no info from the ICC as of now. In a way, this is a clean chit,” Thakur said.
