Barrackpore: The state government, in an initiative to develop the communication in
the Barrackpur-Barasat road, will widen it.
Barrackpore-Barasat road is a very important road for the villagers. This 20-km
stretch road has simplified the communication between Barrackpore and Barasat. The
PWD department will spend 52 crores of money to renovate this road. The work for it
will begin soon.
The transport has increased in this road recently. For the benefit of the
residents, the state government has decided to widen it. The Barrackpore
municipality informed about the plan to the PWD department. Immediately after this,
the decision was taken to renovate it.
The Barrackpur-Kalyani highway, Barrackpore flyover, Sodepur to Barrackpore-inbound
highway comes and meets at the Barrackpore-Barasat road’s Wareless crossing. A huge
number of vehicles plying on this road is putting a pressure on the road.
Tenders have been done too. The work will start soon. The PWD officials,
Barrackpore Municipal Chairman Uttam Das and Barrackpore MLA Shilbhadra Dutta
visited the site on Thursday and inspected.
Uttam Das said, “The PWD has invested 52 crored of rupees for the renovation of
this toad. The work for increasing the width of the Barrackpore-Barasat road will
complete within two years. If everything goes according to plan, the renovation
will be done within the next six years.”
It is presumed that with this new initiative, the communication between the
Barrackpur and Barasat road will increase and change completely.
