New Delhi: The Barak 8 missile which has been jointly developed by India and Israel is likely to be test fired this month. The long range Surface to Air missile can act as a potent shield against the incoming missiles aircrafts and drones. The test will be conducted in Israel, and if successful another will be conducted from an Indian ship before September.
This launch will pave way for installation of the Barak 8 missiles and upgraded system used by both the countries. The missile had undergone a successful test in Israel last November. Though initially the missile was to be fired on board an Indian ship, defence sources said it would now be done on board an Israeli ship first. The Indian ship likely to be used for testing is INS Kolkata.
