Bankura BJP Leader Dies, Allegedly Thrashed By TMC Workers


Bankura: A BJP leader has died in Bankura district following a clash between BJP and Trinamool workers over the filing of nominations for the upcoming Panchayat elections on Wednesday.

The incident has taken place at Ranibandh in Bankura and the victim has been identified as Ajit Murmu (44).

Murmu was part of a BJP team that was going to the Ranibandh BDO office today morning to file nomination papers for the Panchayat polls that are scheduled for 1-5 May. Trinamool cadres attacked the saffron team midway.

A clash broke out after the BJP group tried to put up a resistance. During this, Murmu suffered grievous injury. Murmu was rushed to Bankura Sammilani Medical College and Hospital by party colleagues, where he passed away.
