Bangladeshi Publisher’s Murder: Key Suspect Killed In Shootout


Dhaka: A prime suspect in the murder of Bangladeshi publisher Bachchu was killed in an alleged shootout between police and criminals in Dhaka on Thursday.

Abdur Rahman, leader of the terror group Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), was arrested on Sunday in connection with the murder of Shahzahan Bachchu.

Earlier, Unidentified assailants have gunned down a publisher in Munshiganj. Four attackers on two motorcycles fled after shooting at Shahzahan Bachchu of Bishakha Prokashoni, known as a free-thinking writer, at his ancestral village Kakaldi, police said.

The 60-year-old former general secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh or CPB’s Munshiganj district unit, died on the spot.
